My girlfriend had a Verizon branded Convoy2 U660 flip phone. She broke it with the display module separating from the control module. She's not tech savvy at all and never downloaded her pictures or contacts to her computer or memory card. I told her I would try to get that off the phone for her. I thought that if I had the bottom half of her phone I could plug it into my computer and it would show up as a device in explorer (Windows 10) and I could get all of her stuff off her phone.
As you might have guessed this did not happen as planned. Windows recognizes something because when it gets plugged in I get the chime that plays when I plug in a USB device. The first time I plugged it in it showed up in File Explorer but when I clicked on it it only had something called Verizon Wireless Upgrade Assistant in it. I installed that hoping there was something in that software that would help me out but it's just an app to upgrade the phone itself. In subsequent tries unplugging it and plugging it in I get the USB plug in chime but nothing in File Explorer.
I checked device manager and see that it's installed Samsung Mobile modems under the modems tab, SAMSUNG Mobile Modem Diagnostic Serial Port (WDM) (COM3) under ports, and Samsung USB Composite Device under the USB tab. When I was googling about for help it seems that there's been some issues with some of these drivers so I checked to make sure that I had the latest version of these drivers and that they weren't part of the issues that I had read about.
Based on what I've read I may be screwed because it seems you have to use the phone itself to download files from it. My question is, is there something else that I haven't thought of, or am I not searching for the right thing? I've searched for:
